ROYAL_T is a love letter to the trans and non-binary community.

The visuals for ROYAL_T are made to empower trans and/or non-binary people, by putting them on a pedestal and seeing them as the royalty they are.

Over the years, there has luckily been some steps within society on the visibility of trans and non-binary people, through series and movies. I stress the necessity for a broader movement of social change because the battle against transphobia isn’t over. But positive representation might be a (small) means to an end to change the constructed narrative. Showcasing that bipoc, lgbtq+, disabled and plus-sized people shouldn’t be an afterthought while creating in the digital realm.

The trans and non-binary community deserve the space to celebrate and be celebrated. Showcasing successful and wholesome stories that empower the community to fully express themselves and experience joy. There are a lot of opportunities in the digital realm, and it’s important to shape this space into a positive one through the representation and visibility of trans and non-binary people.
